# You must believe in yourself before others believe in you Before others say that your are right, you must first be sure that you are right. Before others look up on you, you must first look up on yourself. Before others like you, you must first like yourself. Before others believe in you, you must first believe in your self ! # Don't find fault, find a remedy When things go wrong, don't blame. Don't blame your friends, your colleagues or even your government. Instead, think of a solution and make the relevant correction. That's the right thing to do. So, if you fail in your exams, don't blame anybody. Instead, think what went wrong and make the necessary changes to the way you study, and try harder the next time. If your project fail, don't blame your project partner. Instead, do all that you can do now to save it. Find out the reason for the failure and avoid the same mistake when you take on the next project. # Do whatever it takes to succeed That's right ! If it takes you to understand this to pass your exam, then make an effort to understand it. If it takes you to memorise that paragraph to score in your history paper, then do it. If lots and lots of practising is what it takes to be a good pianist, then practise whenever you can. If not giving up is what it takes to be successful, then never give up. Do whatever it takes IS one of the many secrets to a successful life ! # The last thing we should keep to ourselves is knowledge We should never be selfish with something that we know and others don't. When you teach others, your are actually repeating the knowledge that you have. This helps you improve your understanding. And when the receiving party asks questions, it makes you think of the thing that you've already known in a different perspective, sometimes in a way which you've never thought before. Furthermore, we should never miss the opportunity to help others when they need help, shouldn't we ? # He who laughs, lasts He he he...Arghhh ha ha ha...yup...that's right - LAUGH ! What this phrase simply means is, people who are happy (generally) live longer. If you want to have a longer life, start being happy now. Be grateful with what you have, cherish the little things, have some fun and be cheerful. You don't only live longer, you will look and feel much younger. Believe me, it's true. # Do the thing and you will get the energy to do the thing We are playing psychology here. If you feel lazy and yet have something you have to complete, get up and DO that something. Do it even though you don't feel like doing it. And...magic ! That thing is completed even before you realise that you are doing it ! Now...move it ! Mow your lawn, wash your laundry, complete your homework ! Move it...NOW ! # When the going gets tough, the tough gets going When you are take on or do something, it will bound to get difficult. And when you have reach that difficult stage, the real test begins. It challenges you to continue. If you want to be successful, then go on and never give up. You must go on even though the challenges become greater and greater. You must continue even though it is becoming more and more difficult. Like what's written above, even when the going gets tough, you must get going. Taking a course, for example, you can't afford to give up when you have gone through 70% of it and find that it is becoming too difficult for you. Continue with what you are doing, work even harder and make sure that you complete the remaining 30%. Remember the though has to get going. And god willing, you will succeed. # Procrastination is the thief of time I think this phrase is too popular to mention. It warns us of the disastrous effect of procrastination. Procrastination is like a monster that "steals" our time. Therefore, never delay doing the things that you had wanted to do, or else, it will never be done. # Words said are like arrows shot, you can never get them back I got this wise phrase from my sister. It tells us to think carefully before we say something. This is because we will never be able to take back whatever that we have already said. So, think and rethink before you ever say things that will hurt, depress or sadden someone. # Pride comes before a fall We should always take success humbly and ever be proud. If we choose to ignore our friends, like to boast of our successes and forget who were behind us, we will someday fall hard, real hard. # Say what you mean, mean what you say and don't say it mean "Say what you mean, mean what you say" tells us that we should always say what we mean. Say it only when you mean it, or else you are cheating on the person that's listening to you. And make sure that you "don't say it mean". Don't say words that you know could hurt others. This phase plays on the word "mean" which has more than one meaning.
