Ecologist Activity #1
All good scientists record data to help them organize their discoveries. While you read about each layer of the rainforest in the following three websites, record some data on the Layers of Life data sheet. You will be reading and taking notes on the plant life, animal life, amount of light, and special information for each layer.
1. All About Rainforests at enchantedlearning.com
Read the section "What is a Rainforest?" to refresh your knowledge, and then read the section "Strata of the Rainforest" to explore the layers of life in the rainforest.
2. Rainforest at MBGnet
Look on the left toolbar and click on "Exploring the Tropical Rainforest". Read the introduction and then click on the arrow to go to the next page. Read about the four layers of the rainforest on this page.
3. Strata at Science Museum of Minnesota
Read the short introduction and then click on the eyes located at each layer.
