photo from "Becca" the kid's musical last week.
so. i'm closing in on 5 years of web-journalling (april 29th). in an appropriate move, as i am running out of space, i will move to somabish.org with all my archives on the day of. so i'm in the process of going over all the archived files i have and.. geez. if i thought i was a disorganized pack-rat in real life, my web-files prove me one online as well.
there are at least 4 different deeply implemented journalling codes i've used over the years. i'm re-doing them all for a seemless format--i think i'll be glad i did once i am done, but actually moving every single entry from the past 5 years into the "new" code.. ouch!
i'm only a quarter into the 1998 entries! it's fun to get to re-acquaint myself with all sorts of forgotten landmarks in my recent history.. sometimes i e-mail people.. "look, gene, the first time we hung out!" ..i'm right in the middle of month three of my first year in america, so there are a lot of funny firsts (first time i went to a taco bell, first day of classes, first due essay..).
but it's also, obviously, a pain in the ass. i'm glad i never deleted any of my archives, but trying to organize them sometimes makes me wish i had. :)
another complicating factor is the actual re-design i need to do for somabish.org. it's going to be very, very simple, but i can't get to it because i'm waiting for a graphic that a friend drew for me a few weeks ago but have yet to bring in for me to actually see and scan.
so i'm doing the grunt-work. i want to have a photo-section since, well, i have quite a lot of photo's i'd like to display, but organizing and weeding out pictures is a pain. i just can't decide on anything. maybe i should do what em did and just have simple descriptors like "color" and "bw" .. but then i want to get more specific and geez.. it's just pathetic. it's hard enough finding all the folders i have with pictures. heh.
like the title says. trivial problems. but annoying and confusing and time-consuming all the same. anyway. back to it. oh look, my crappy pictures of kristin hersh in concert! .. heh. :)
