first the obvious: i made it! i'm back at school in america. go me.
but before i go on about that, i just have to make a small comment on, oh, i don't know, putting things in perspective, i guess. all over the place, fans of tori amos are putting together little benefit parties in honor of tori's upcoming birthday and the profits all go to support rainn.. so far, so good. however, it seems the ticket sales are going so/so and so rainn is sending out reminding e-mails. still, that's okay. what got me was this little part at the end:
"Ask your friends and family and coworkers to buy tickets. The next six days will determine whether this is a great birthday for Tori, or one that will be painful to remember. Thanks for your help."
huh? painful to remember? i mean, yes, it would be great to see this stuff become a huge success for rainn, rainn rocks, but that painful to remember bit annoys me so much. it just got too overly dramatic. it's a great cause, absolutely, but painful to remember?? yesh.
okay. back to me. hee.
i left with my uncle wednesday to drive to malmo. before we drove out of ronneby i insisted on a guerrilla goodbye to my friends maria and david, so i had them wait for me at their parking lot so i could swing by, run out, hug and leave. heheh. i too am overly dramatic.
flight to stockholm went fine. at the airport i stocked up on lots of paperback books and the cashier guy got very excited at my choices (all swedish books: populr musik fran vittula and sireners sang). then off we went to new york. i sat amongst a large group of swedish high school exchange students. hee hee. they were so adorable and definitely reminded me of myself in 1998 when i first went to america. sigh.
at new york, i learned my flight was postponed meaning i would miss my connection in atlanta. panic. only bright side was the pretty, pretty flight agent guy. meow. called angela collect and told. about the delay. finaly got on the plane. sat on plane for almost TWO HOURS before take off. ergh.
barely got to atlanta before i was whisked off on a sudden connecting flight to raleigh-durham. relieved. i ended up only being an hour delayed all and all. AND. i got all my luggage! that's a first, i think. got to angelas. swooned and was quite loopy after 24 hours worth of waiting and sitting and flights and frustration.
point is. i made it. today, after a lot of hoopla (being told there were no available rooms on campus at all) i am now registered and checked into a room at the same dorm i stayed in last semester. i met my new roommate. she too has an identical twin, just like my room mate last semester. so crazy.
so. all is well. thrilled! and i got audiogalaxy.com to work! i gots me my hakan hellstrom b-side. thrilled. just thrilled. i just read that hakan plans to sign onto a real freight ship and sail to south america and be at the rio de janeiro festival next year. he's gonna be a real sailor! i think that's the coolest thing i've heard in years, an artist actually doing something in real life besides just recording and waiting.
okay! cin cin! weee! 18:21
