English as a Second Language
These pages are intended to help people who are learning to speak English as a second language.  They will also be helpful for grammar and high school students, and for anyone else who wants to brush up on their English skills.  Please note that these pages require a basic knowledge of English, since I am not set up to translate English into every known language.  Therefore these pages are for the intermediate and advanced English speaker.  For beginner's English courses please browse the following links:

About Me

I live in Garland, Texas, which is in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  I am a housewife and mother, and I run an home-based eBay business.  I sell books, magazines, postcards, playbills and other paper collectibles.  I am a native speaker of American English and have always had a fascination for the spoken word.  My second language is French. I recognize many Spanish words and phrases since I live so close to the border of Mexico. Hence these pages will have some comparisons in French and Spanish, but there will be no direct translations.

The primary focus of these pages will be on grammar, although there will be discussion on other topics. Unlike other English lessons, these pages will present a
practical English tutorial which will help the non-native speaker to understand how English is actually spoken in the United States.  Thus it will cover many common, colloquial (informal, spoken) uses of English which are almost never covered in classical English texts.
