Working on an archaeological site can involve using many different types of tools. The image of an archaeologist only working with a little dental pick is not always accurate. Our most common tools were sledge hammers, hoes, shovels, picks, trowels, and brushes. The only time we needed to use delicate instruments was in the cleaning of the mosaic floor.
