| New cockpit floor and washboard | ||||||||||||||||
| This spring I decided to become a better carpenter. Well, at least to try. I have alway had difficulties with woodwork, but when I found some ready-made teak pieces intended for use on a veranda or balcony I decided they would work on the boat as well. | ||||||||||||||||

| I bought four pieces. Off two I had to saw off one of the planks. One of those I used to create a middle plank. | ||||||||||||||||
![]() My confidence thus improved
I decided to have a go at new washboards as well. The old ones where in
a bad shape with some serious delamination of the plywood in the lower
part. I bought a piece of teak plywood instead of the old mahogany one.
After sawing it to the right dimensions I had to decide whether to
leave it in one piece or to saw it in half creating two pieces as
before. After some thinking I decided to go for one single piece. I
have kept the old ones, so in case I wanted only half a board in I can
always use the old one. Also the most important thing is that the board
keeps the rain out when the boat sits in it's berth. Thus the decision
for one board.
