In the six years period of 1996 -2001 CWIN center
for children at risk has registered and rehabilitated many children having
various background to various places, who are referred from various
places. Analysis
of sources of children ²
Children were
referred from different places to the center. In the six-year of period
total 1415 children were registered in the center. Those children were
referred from 20 different sources. The sources are CSC CCC/CCP CWIN
Clinic, CWIN help line, Coming self, Maiti Nepal, Observation home Mumbai,
Referred by people, Police, St.xavier’s social service center,
street(rescue), carpet(rescue), Lion’s club, NASPEC, Sangrilla home, VDC,
tempo conductor rescue, hotel boy rescue, DAO saptari, NYOF and VDC

Socialization center(CSC). CSC is the main source of children till now.
Until now CSC has referred 653 children to the center and Lion’s club,
St.xavier’s social service center, sangrilla home, NYOF and VDC are the
places from where 1,3,1,2&2 children were referred to the center
respectively. Analysis
of background of children ²
Children who are
registered in the center are not of same background. In 1415 children, who
are registered from 33 different backgrounds. These backgrounds are:
abandoned, beggar, brick kiln worker, carpet labor, domestic servant,
hotel kanchha, lost, mechanics, orphan, porter, runaway, rag picking,

shepherd, cutting ice, stone carving, vehicle cleaner, shoe shiner, send

see kathmandu, labor in biscuit factory, stone query labor, monk and
mentally retarded. Among these 33 different backgrounds children having
background of hotel kanchha is highest which is 233 and the lowest is shoe
shiner which is only 1. Analysis
of place of rehabilitation ²
Among the children
registered in the center 1169 children were further rehabilitated in
different particulars. They are: family reunion, referral to skill
training & job placement, referral to child care home, referral to
CWIN ESP, referral to SOS ,referral to Apanga nawa jeevan Kendra. Among
these particulars maximum
children are family reunited. Due to the family reunion is the main
target of the center where as other particulars some side-by-side if
family reunion is not a worth. Hence 1051 children are reunited with
the family and only 1/1 children are referred the SOS & Apang
Nawa Jeevan kendra. And the other comes in between. 3.6
STUDY RESULT Before
the study some objectives were made. The objectives were to know the
source of children, place for rehabilitated and types of child laborers.
At the end of the study the objective seem to be met. I.e. there were 20
different sources of children, children were rehabilitated in 6 different
places and there were mainly 33 different types of children rehabilitated
including child laborers as well as children at risk and children in
difficult circumstances. 4.1
SUMMARY In the
six years of period cwin center for children at risk has registered 1415
children and rehabilitated
1169 children. The enrolment of children in the center is not in regular
trend i.e. it is neither increasing nor decreasing trend. In 1996 there
are 179 children registered but in 1997 there are 171 children registered
which is declining and in 1998 there are 241 children registered where as
in 1999 total 242 children are registered, in 2000 total 304 children are
registered which is increasing and in 2001 278 children are registered
which is declining . So the
registration of children is not in regular trend. In the
1169 number of rehabilitation of children 1051 children are reunited with
the family and others are referred in different places. There are
33 different backgrounds of children including child labor and children at
risk or children in especially difficult circumstances. 4.2
CONCLUSION This
organization is doing very good program in the process of rehabilitation
including family reunion and referring to many other process. As the highest number of children are family reunited they are also re-admitted to the center mostly so it seems family reunion program is not so effective as most of children doesn't want to go home and are mostly interested in getting skill training. So I would like to suggest the organization to focus more in skill training rather than family reunion. Though family reunion cannot be denied |
