January 30, 2006
Can you believe that one month has already passed by in this new year? How time flies. Anyways with a new year came a desire to change the look slightly. This year I'm going to try and keep record of how I've changed the look - it's been 8 years since I started this (can you believe that?!) and I've only kept record of the last 2 years - 2005 becuase I've decided to start keeping track and 2004 because of Mya's illness and my little write up on that. I'll come up with an archive page at some point in the future. Who would have thought that politics in this country could ever be boring? I really have to ask the question -and I know I'm gonna get slack from family out east- why is it that people in Ontario keeping voting these idiot Liberals to Ottawa? At this point they could be literally coming into our homes and stealing our stuff and people out east would still vote them in - it seriously boggles the mind at what people are thinking. And I'm tired of hearing that the Conservatives are a bunch of racist rednecks - people need to open their eyes before making statements like that. All I know is that times are changing with a Conservative minority government. However I can see this minority thing going on for a while - mind you this could be a good thing which will keep these so called politicians on their toes for a while. Time will tell. Mya and I had a father daughter day recently and hung out at West Ed. As you can see, I had taken pictures of Mya and myself in a booth when she was about 8 months old, so I thought we'd do it again. However the stupid mirror/frame in the booth was off - inside it totally looked like she was in the middle of the frame, however as you can see she got stuck in the corner almost cut off. We'll have to try again another time - maybe even get Yasmeen in on it. Make sure and check out Ben & Lenisa Cherian's blog - which I've added to the Links page. Lenisa is a fellow Calgarian who married Ben and moved to N. Carolina. I've posted 2 more albums on the Shutter book site. One is just a bunch of pictures from the last month. The other one is a little more special. Mya loves to look at my camera and pretends to take pictures with her own toy camera. Anyways her Toronto Ammachi decided to buy her another camera - however what Ammachi thought was a toy camera turned out to be a colorful disposable camera. So Mya started taking pictures with great interest. 10 pictures actually turned out -and not too bad I might add- so I thought I had to post her first pictures. Needless to say her Edmonton Ammachi went and bought her an inexpensive advantix camera - still have to develop those shots. Who knows if she really gets a knack for taking pictures, maybe I'll pick up a cheap digital camera for her - in a few years of course. In the mean time let's see how she does. later,
