| Susan Walker (nee Campbell) 1876-1904 Alexander Walker 1874-1956 Jane Walker 1902-1988 |
| We think this picture was taken around 1903. The infant in the photo is my Great Grandmother Jane Walker, who married William Robertson (See previous Page). Susan Campbell died in 1904 of Tuberculosis, and worked as a laundress along with a number of her sisters. Alexander (Sandy) or AdieWalker as he was often called, worked in a distilery and has achieved some fame as having survived a fall into a vat of whiskey! He suffered major burns all the way up to his neck but after a few years made a complete recovery, presumably because the alcohol was sterile. Unfortunately for Sandy, the horse drawn cab that came to collect him to take him home after his long stint in hospital ran over his foot and had to drive him straight back! |
