William Robertson 1899 -1971
The above picture was taken during the 1st World War and is that of My Great Grandfather, who was on hospital leave at the time. He actually faked his age so that he could join up, being just 15 years of age. Fortunately he survived to tell the tale, unlike so many others. He's actually a Robertson on my mother's side. It gets confusing after a while because we have Robertsons on every side of our family at regular intervals. We think there's a high possibility that at some point they've all intermarried...

Anyhow, Willie was a great character from a large family of ten or eleven. He loved his horse racing (bless him) and supported Glasgow Celtic Fottball Club (nobody's perfect, eh sis?) but I don't hold that against him! The fanfic story
'Lipstick, Powder and Paint' was actually based on something that my overly-creative mother did to the poor man when he was asleep!

Willie in the uniform of the Gordon Highlanders
And again. This was a photograph made into a postcard and sent home to Scotland during the time that Willie was wounded in WW1. He carried a piece of shrapnel imbedded within his chest right up to his death in the early 1970s.
