THE STUDIO

The studio is located in the area of Bristol called Clifton. Remarkable about this area is the engineering feat of the Suspension Bridge built by Brunel spanning the Avon Gorge, and the village feel of the area full of Georgian buildings, whilst we look out towards the Mendip Hillls and Somerset.

ROSALIND GRIMSHAW
(BA FMGP- Fellow of the British Society of Master Glass Painters.)

Rosalind, having trained at Ravensbourne, Brighton, Hornsey and Bristol as as painter, printmaker and teacher moved into stained glass work in 1975, training and working at Joseph Bell & Son of Bristol. She has carried out a constant stream of stained glass work since then.

This work varies from AUTONOMOUS PANELS - including private commissions, exhibitions panels (National and International), works bought or exhibited by museums (Imperial War Museum and Ely Stained Glass Museum) to PRIVATE COMMISSIONS - work in Britain France and Germany to CHURCH COMMISSIONS - St. Chad's, Seighford, Staffordshire. St. Mary's, Balcombe, West Sussex. Millenium Window, Refectory, Chester Cathedral. PUBLIC WORKS - Central Delivery Unit, Southmead Hospital, Bristol. Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, Devon.

PATRICK COSTELOE (BA CAMGP).

Patrick, having taken a degree in Art History and Literature at Middlesex University London, he decided to change career in 1979 and chose stained glass as the field he wanted to work in. He was offered the opportunity by Geoffrey Robinson to train and work at Joseph Bell & Son, Bristol. The great advantage of working in a small stained glass studio is that one has to practice all aspects of stained glass work: restoration, repair, and undertaking new work.

Joseph Bell & Son closed in 1996. Since then he has been self employed, setting up a stained glass studio in Clifton with Rosalind Grimshaw. His ambitions in stained glass lie not in the art, but in the craft. He sees his job as helping to realise the "nuts and bolts" side of an artist's vision. For example, he is at present working on three commissions for the artist Tom Denny as well as helping Rosalind Grimshaw with her present commissions.
