This is the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai.  This river is actually called the River Kwae Noi, though it has been unofficially changed to Kwai.  The movie involving this bridge is actually fiction, it was built by Japanese engineers not by POW's.  It was, though, bombed, you can see that the two bits of the bridge at this end are square whereas the others are round, thats where it was bombed and rebuilt.  Apparently the bridge is still in use, though we never saw a train go over it.  We did walk right across it though.
Below is a picture of a train going over the Wampo Viaduct.  This was built by POW's (British I believe).  As you can see the track was carved out of the cliff, this is what most of the railway is like.  We actually went on a train ride accross this section of the railway.
