* - First time played

Let me first say that this night was almost as magical as the first night.
PYITE>: Fairly straightforward opener. The band and the audience hit their cues perfectly. Tweezer>CTB>Tweezer:  Typical composed section that was followed by a Page centered jam exploring many jazz themes. Just as it seemed the jam was coalescing, Jon hit his snare and they snapped right into CTB. WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT. You could see the audience literally stop in their shoes as the beat changed amazed at how flawless the segue came off. Just as you thought the gymnastics couldnt be topped they did it again at the end of CTB. Instead of maintaining the sustain at the end, they just hopped back into tweezer as if nothing had happened. Sparks could be felt passing between everybody in the room and every face was aglow with joy. After wrapping up they took a few seconds to regroup and stepped into, My Sweet One: A good fit for this part of the set. Almost like taking a deep breath before starting into, Undermind: Live debut here and let me be the first to say that they are going to explore the potential in this song to the fullest. There was a much stronger backbone than on the studio version and I can see great things happening here. Another pause to regroup in preparation for, Water in the Sky: This is one of my favorite tracks from Story of the Ghost not so much in its power but in its imagery. Whenever I hear this tune I get this electrical energy that fills my body with happiness, which is sappy to say but is true. They say music has power and for me at least this song has that power. Down with Disease>Split Open and Melt: With the opening note of DwD you knew it was time to wrap up the set with a bang and they got busy with the funk on this one. Energy kept building and building looking for release and break when instead we got SO&M. Man for some reason every time they play this song I have to piss. This is not a negative statement, I mean every time I am at a show and they play SO&M I have to run to the head. Its weird, I know, but its true. But not tonight, tonight I let my bladder suffer as we tripped the light fantastic. CK was on and hitting all cylinders during the jam here. When the lights finally came on I made a mad dash for relief.
During my time in the loo is when they lowered a large video screen and started playing the save the planet commercial. I am not going to comment on this right now except to say that Bobby is still looking pretty tired.
Onto set 2. Rock and Roll>7 Below R&R rank as my #2 favorite cover right behind Boogie On Reggae Woman and tonights demonstrated why it is high on my list. Page put everything hes got in this song and you can tell he enjoys every minute. Just as its winding down Trey starts chanting 7 below and eventually the jam transitions into the song proper. This is one of the best improvements Ive heard from any song coming out of hiatus. Lizards I felt this was an odd set placement but very good nonetheless and a good portend to the highlight of the second set, Mikes Song>I am Hydrogen>A Song I Heard the Ocean Sing (Intro)>Pebbles and Marbles>Weekapaug Groove>Character Zero. Words fail me to describe this suite of music. There was an ebb and flow throughout the entire song cycle. It was something you wanted to just go on forever. Each piece married into the next and built on its predecessor until you knew you were experiencing a transcendent moment. These moments became more rare around the end of the 98 fall tour and based on tonights performance I think we will see more of these in the future.
Bouncing Around the Room:  During the encore break there seemed to be a lot of activity happening on the stage and expectations were raised for something special, but when the first notes of Bouncing came out there was a noticeable groan heard in many areas and mumblings of a bouncing tweeprise encore could be heard. People had actually started heading for the exits. Boy they were shocked and amazed with what followed.
Hey, Hey, My, My (Into the Black): When Neil walked out on stage the room exploded. He plugged in and went straight to business.
Ants Marching: The audience was still in shock with the Neil encore when Dave walked out to shock them some more. But, more than anything else, I think he triggered the anticipation for Bobby. Not one of my favorite DMB songs but still very well played and having that the dual guitar sound from Trey and Neil gave the song a boost needed to keep the night rolling.
Throwing Stones: There was pandemonium in the room even before Bob walked out. Everybody knew that we were going to throw down some heat. But, just like in the video, Bob did look a little tired. There was a huge glimmer in his eyes though and the audience charged up the rest of his batteries and kept him going by singing every word with him. By the time the song was over everybody was ready to fall down. After playing everybody came forward and took a bow and as we walked out I dont think anybody complained about no tweeprise.
