What can I say?  The boys are definitely touring again and sounding great. Rumors have it that they've been practicing since Coventry.  They soundedtiiight right out of the gate.  The Chaulk dust was huge, and when Trey grabbed the megaphone, we went nuts.  Trey had a huge smile on his face.  He didn't
want to put it down.  The Maze was insane!  I don't think I'd ever heard a Maze jammed out like this one. The Horse>Silent was perfectly placed and just a treat to hear.  It's one of those tunes that makes you feel warm and fuzzy.  Loved the Reba but the Ghost>Possum>Ghost was one for the ages.  I'd purchase this show just for that exchange alone...and just when you thought the first set was over, The Divided Sky was engaged.  Holy shit!  What a first set! People were blown away big time.  Everyone was on a cell phone at set break to confirm the show.  Some actually had tears in their eyes.  I did too.

Second set..Wilson.  Awesome.  The jam was played out for at least 20 minutes, but since it was so intense, I didn't even notice how long it truly was. Rift.. above standard, the bag was huge and as it went into Free, bliss was evident.  Mike was dropping big bombs from the bottom of his soul.  He seemed to be very happy that Phish was indeed touring again.  He was making the"teardrop trickle" bass lines that are so signature with his style. Smokin' Free!  We screamed for more.  Gumbo started up to keep things flowing. During the jam, the tempo slowly increased and from out of nowhere, back into Maze! Unreal.  CK had our heads in the blender and was taking full advantage.  My mouth was agape for most of the night.  The Maze went back into the Gumbo and the crowd went nuts again. After the Gumbo>Maze>Gumbo, the crowd cheered like they'd just won the lottery.  In a sense, they had.  Page fired up HYHU and as he did so, EVERYONE in the band went over my the keys.  Brad came out and set up the mics near Page and they started singing, "I didn't know."  Page jammed HYHU back out and the boys returned to their places.  We were begging for more when Trey started the count.  YEM had just begun and was just what I had predicted.  Perfect...no flubs.  Trey was all over it.  Staying a few steps ahead like in the "olden days".  Nothing but pure creativity.  They flowed like water.  Brad comes out with 3 more megaphones and gives them to Mike, Page, and Jon.  When the vocal jam started, they all were "speaking" through their megaphones...I'm not sure but I believe they were saying, "we're back to jam"  I could be wrong but that's what it sounded like to me.  As they wrapped it up, everyone knew that they still had it.  All the doubts had been removed. The vibe was think and Jerry's soul could be felt throughout the Filmore.  I think Phish was feeling it too because they came out with "Fire" Incredible..mellow, tight, and tons of fun.  Everyone was grooving and smiling from ear to ear.  I figured this would end this incredible evening with Phish.  I was wrong.  Fishman cracked out the intro and another journey had begun. This hood was one for the books.  Exploratory jamming just seemed to fall intoplace.  They didn't miss a beat.  It was 26 minutes long.  One of the best shows ever. (for me at least)  I'm looking forward to tonight's show.  I love Phish.
