1. Pontius Pilate asked humanity's most important question,
"What is TRUTH?"
[John 18:38]
 

2.  God, the creator of heaven and earth, is the source of truth:
"This is what the LORD says--
he who created the heavens, he is God;
who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it...
I, the LORD, speak the TRUTH; I declare what is right."
[Isaiah 45:18,19]
 

3.  Jesus affirmed that the Word of God is truth:
"Your [God's] word is TRUTH."
[John 17:17]
 

4.  God looks for truth and righteousness in each of us:
"Surely you [God] desire TRUTH in the inner parts;
you teach me wisdom in the inmost place."
[Psalm 51:6]
 

5.  The truth is that we fall short of God's standards for us:
"If we claim to be without sin,
we deceive ourselves and the TRUTH is not in us."
[1 John 1:8]
 

6.  Humans serve created things rather than the Creator:
"They exchanged the TRUTH of God for a lie,
and worshiped and served created things
rather than the Creator--who is forever praised."
[Romans 1:25]
 

7. Yet God desires the salvation of sinners through the truth:
"God our Savior... wants all... to be saved
and to come to a knowledge of the TRUTH."
[1 Timothy 2:3-4]
 

8. God gave his Law to show us our sin, and Christ to save us:
"For the law was given through Moses;
grace and TRUTH came through Jesus Christ."
[John 1:17]
 

9. Jesus is the eternal Word of God made truly human:
"The Word became flesh
and made his dwelling with us.
We have seen his glory,
the glory of the One and Only,
who came from the Father,
full of grace and TRUTH."
[John 1:14]
 

10. Jesus said he is the truth and the way to life with God:
"I am the way and the TRUTH and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me."
[John 14:6]
 

11. Jesus said that following him leads to true freedom:
"If you hold to my teaching,
you are really my disciples.
Then you will know the TRUTH,
and the TRUTH will set you free."
[John 8:31-32]
 

12. Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to lead his followers in the truth:
"When the Spirit of TRUTH comes,
he will guide you into all TRUTH."
[John 16:13]
 

13.  St. Paul described the community of Christ's followers as:
"God's household... the church of the living God,
the pillar and foundation of the TRUTH."
[1 Timothy 3:15]
 

14. The Church worships God in Spirit and in truth:
"A time is coming and has now come
when the true worshipers will worship
the Father in spirit and TRUTH,
for these are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks."
[John 4:23]
 

15. The Church proclaims the truth with love for others:
"Speaking the TRUTH in love,
we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head,
that is, Christ."
[Ephesians 4:15]
 

16.  Will you join members of the Church in this prayer?
"Teach me your way, O LORD,
and I will walk in your TRUTH;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your Name."
[Psalm 86:11]
 

17. Remember:
"We cannot do anything against the TRUTH,
but only for the TRUTH."
[2 Corinthians 13:8]
 

"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last.  Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name." (John 15:16)
