| Lexi came into Ryann's room at 7 am, with a big grin on her face. Ryann was feeding Lauren. "Good Morning Lexi." "Hey, Ryann. How are you doing?" "I am good. I take it you are too. You are very chipper this morning." Lexi came over and plopped onto the edge of Ryann's bed. She held out her hand and showed Ryann the ring. "Matt proposed to me last night." "Congratulations Lex." Ryann said as she gave her a hug with one arm. "We're going to be neighbors soon too. Last night Matt told me that he bought some land from Gilbert that is right next to yours and Jeff's, and we're going to build a house. "Anyway, the first thing I wanted to do was ask you to be my maid of honor. So will you?" "Of course Lexi. Have you set a date?" "No, he just asked me last night. But it probably won't be for at least a year or two. Matt did say he wanted Lauren to be our flower girl, so we have to wait until she's walking." "Really?" "Yes! Matt doesn't stop talking about her. He's very proud to be her uncle Matt." "That's a good thing, I guess." "Enough about me. I have all your papers ready to get out of here, is Jeff coming to get you?" "Last night before he left he said he'd be here first thing in the morning�" Jeff walked into the room and said, "Can I take my wife and daughter home now?" "� and here he is." Ryann finished. "What?" Jeff asked as he set Ryann's bag of clothes down. "Nothing honey." Jeff gave Ryann a kiss, and then kissed Lauren on the forehead. "I was just saying that you told me you'd be here first thing in the morning. Lexi just told me that she had all of the papers ready for me to go home. Will you go with her and sign them while I get Lauren ready?" "Sure." "Come on Jeff." Jeff and Lexi left and Ryann crawled out of bed. She lay Lauren in the bassinette and went to get dressed. After she came out, she took out an outfit for the baby and dressed Lauren. Jeff and Lexi came back in and Lexi said, "You're all set Ryann." "What's the wheelchair for?" Ryann inquired. "It is policy for every patient to be wheeled downstairs to the door." "Oh." Matt walked in the door with the video camera in hand, taping everything. Ryann just rolled her eyes. Jeff grabbed the bag and Ryann sat down in the wheelchair with Lauren. Lexi wheeled her down, Jeff walked next to them, and Matt was recording the whole thing. They got downstairs, and Jeff took Lauren so Ryann could get up. Jeff had driven Ryann's Rav4 to the hospital, and already had the car seat in the vehicle. Jeff carefully placed Lauren in the seat and buckled her in. Ryann got into the passenger seat, and Jeff was going to drive. Matt was riding in the back, still recording the event, and Lexi was going to follow them in her car. It was a half an hour ride home from the hospital. When they pulled into the driveway, there was a huge banner hanging on the side of Jeff and Ryann's house that said "WELCOME HOME LAUREN RUBY!" and all of Ryann's and Jeff's family and friends were there. Ryann turned and looked at Jeff as her parked the car. They all got out of the car and Ryann took Lauren out. Jeff came over to her and Ryann said, "What is all of this Jeff?" "Well honey, I know how important it would be to you to have your family and friends here, so I flew them all down here last night, so they would be here when you and Lauren came home." A tear started to roll down Ryann's cheek. "Don't cry sweetie." Jeff said as he put his arms around Ryann. "You just make me so happy Jeff, I can't help it. I love you" Jeff leaned down and kissed Ryann, and everyone said, "Awe�" in unison. "I love you too Ryann, always�" |
