| ~ Chapter Thirty-Eight ~ |
| Jeff woke up the next morning to the telephone ringing, so he answered it. Hello? Jeff, its Vince McMahon. How are you? Tired. Whats up Vince? Not much. I dont mean to disturb you on your vacation, but whats going on with Ryann? There are rumors flying around, and I just want to get things straight. Jeff sat up in bed and said, What are the rumors? Ive heard that she is going to quit. No Vince, Ryann is not quitting. People are talking, and saying that shes not going to wrestle anymore. Well, its not that she doesnt want to, but Ryann is pregnant. Pregnant? Ok, that explains it. Look, we dont need to talk about this over the telephone. I will talk to the two of you when you come back from vacation. Ok, well see you then. Jeff hung up the phone and Ryann said, Who was that? Vince McMahon. You told him I was pregnant? Ryann asked. Yes, but he said hed talk to us about it when we come back from vacation. Ryann had somewhat of a worried look on her face, so Jeff said, Dont worry Ry, hes not going to fire you or anything like that. Hell probably talk to Stephanie and the writers, and theyll come up with some story as to why you cant wrestle, and everything will be fine. Ok Ryann replied, although she still wasnt sure if everything would go so smoothly. She climbed out of bed and went to the kitchen to make coffee. Jeff got up with her, and he went out for the newspaper. They ate breakfast together, and Ryann decided to drive down to Aberdeen to look for a dress. Jeff suggested that she wake Lexi up, but Ryann said no. She gave Jeff a kiss, grabbed her purse, and left. Jeff sat down in front of the television, and was watching the morning news when Matt walked in. Good morning Jeff. Hey Matt. Wheres Lexi? Shes still sleeping. Where did Ryann go? I heard her vehicle pull out a few minutes ago. She went down to Aberdeen to look for a dress. Weve decided to get married next weekend, before we go back on the road. Well, that was a quick decision. Why so soon? Why do you think? Its Chris. Ryann is so worried that Chris is going to try to do something to her, and she insists that once we are married, he will leave her alone. Jeff, what do you think? I dont care when or where, I just want to marry Ryann. And if it will put her mind at ease, then Ill do whatever she wants. Its not that. I am just so sick and tired of Chris, and the hell hes putting her through. We hadnt had a problem with him before we went to Vermont, and we havent heard from him or seen him since weve been back. I think shes just overreacting. But Ill do whatever makes her happy. Is she worth all of this hassle? Matt asked. Jeff glared at his brother, and was so pissed that he made that comment that he wanted to punch him. Instead, he said, Yes Matt, she is worth it. Id go to the end of the earth and back to be with her. I am so completely head over heals in love with her; it drives me crazy to see her upset. Not to mention the fact that she is pregnant with my baby. Would it be worth it to you if it was Lexi? Probably. Well there you go Jeff said hastily. He turned back to the television, and tried to ignore his brother. The two of them sat in silence watching TV, until Lexi got up. Then, Matt went to take a shower, and Lexi grabbed some coffee and sat next to Jeff on the couch. Good morning Jeff. Where did Ryann go? She went down to Aberdeen to look for a dress. I told her to wake you, but she wanted to let you sleep. Oh. Shes looking for a dress already? Weve decided to have a really small wedding and do it next weekend. Next weekend? Wow, thats quick, but I understand. At least somebody does. What do you mean? Never mind. Anyway, we all have to make sure we keep it a secret, because if Chris gets wind of it, Ryann says hell try to stop it for sure. Jeff, are you ok? Im fine. Jeff said, with a little irritation in his voice. Jeff, something is bothering you, I hear it in your voice. Your boyfriend can be a real asshole sometimes. I couldve told you that. Do you want to talk about it? Not really. Ok then. Lexi replied, and took a sip of her coffee. Well, just know that I am here if you want to talk Jeff. Jeff didnt say another word; he just got up and went outside. He jumped on his dirt bike, and took it for a ride. Ryann was shopping around Aberdeen, and had been there for a couple of hours. She knew exactly what she was looking for, but couldnt manage to find it anywhere. When she was just about to give up, there it was. It was a satin A-line gown with banded bodice, spaghetti straps, and delicate pearl embroidery. She brought it to the dressing room to try it on, and it fit perfectly. She decided to purchase it, so she got dressed, and brought it to the counter. While she was standing there, she had this eerie feeling that someone was watching her. She turned around quickly, but nobody was there. Chris is not here. She thought to herself. Dont get all worked up over nothing. You are fine. Ryann paid for her dress, and got out of the store as quick as she could. She could not shake the feeling that she was being watched. She hung the dress in the back of her vehicle and headed straight home. She grabbed her dress, ran into the house and locked the door as soon as it shut behind her. She turned around, and saw Matt and Lexi staring at her. Are you ok Ryann? Lexi asked. Yeah, I am fine. Ryann said as she sighed with relief. She was never so happy to be home. Wheres Jeff? I think hes out back, riding his bike. Matt said, the turned back to the television. Lex, come to my room with me for a second. Ryann said as she headed off to her room. Lexi got up and followed. After Lexi was in, Ryann shut the door, and stood in front of it. Want to see my dress? She asked. Well, of course. Lexi responded. Ryann lifted the dress out of the bag, and held it up in front of her. Lexis eyes got real big, and she said, Ryann, its perfect. Its so simple yet so elegant. Jeff is going to love it. I hope so. Ryann replied, and she put it back under the bag. Can I hang it in your closet? I dont want Jeff to see it until we get married. Sure. Lexi said. Its not really my closet, its Matts, but he wont mind. Lexi took the bag from Ryann and the two of them headed down the hallway and into Matts room. Lexi hung the dress, and then turned to Ryann. Are you sure nothing is wrong? I have never seen you bolt in the door like that before. Lexi stated. I am ok. I just had the strange feeling right before I bought the dress. What kind of feeling? Like someone was watching me. And I felt it all the way home. I still kind of feel it. Its probably just anxiety, I mean, you are getting married next weekend, and youre pregnant. Im sure youre right. I dont know, its just weird. So what can I help you with? What do you mean? Ryann asked, her mind still pre-occupied. With the wedding? I am your maid of honor, and it is my job to help you plan your big day. So is there anything I can help you with? UmIve got to call my parents and someone to officiate the ceremony. You can call your parents, and I will take care of the priest, ok? Sure. Ryann said, and headed out of the room. She went back to her room, and called her parents house. Kensington residence, this is Jessica. Hey Jess, its Ryann. Hey Ryann, how are you doing? I am ok. How are you? Great! Except for me being mad at you for leaving without any kind of warning. John mentioned that Chris was around again, but what the hell? Jess, I am sorry. Youve got to understand what Chris was doing to me while I was up there. I do understand Ry, but are you going to continue to be a pussy and run from him all of your life, or are you going to stand up to him and tell him to fuck off? And what if he decides to knock me on my ass, and that causes me to have a miscarriage. I am sorry, but to me, it is not worth it. Anyway, I dont want to fight with you, so is mom or dad home? No, they are both working. Well, if you will please have either of them call me when they get home, Id be forever grateful. Whats so important Ry? Im afraid that since youre so pissed, youll run straight to Chris and tell him. Ryann, I am your sister, and I would never do that. Besides, you know how much I hate that asshole. Do you have plans for next weekend? No, I dont think I have a game or anything, why? Well, what would you think about coming down here for the weekend? That would be awesome Ry. Why? Well, Jeff and I decided to get married next weekend. WHAT? Jessica asked, almost screaming. This is a huge secret though, I dont want Chris to find out, so youve got to keep your mouth shut and tell nobody. The only people we are inviting are our immediately family and a few friends. Im not inviting anyone from Vermont except for you, mom, and dad. Next weekend, Jeff is going to be my brother-in-law? Yes Jess. So Ive got to get going, Ive got to call John and Carey. Just dont tell mom and dad. Id like to be the one to tell them. Just have them call me, ok? Sure Ry, I love you. I love you to. See ya. Later. Ryann hung up, and then picked the phone back up and called her brother. Hello? John, youre home? Yeah, we were slow today. Whats up Ry? How are you doing? I am good. How are you and Carey? Were good. So whats up? Jeff and I are going to get married here in North Carolina next weekend. We arent having a huge ceremony, just immediately family pretty much. So wed like it if you and Carey could come. I know that it is last minute, and I will understand if you cant make it. We will be there Ryann. You can count on that. So where is the closest airport to that town you live in? The closest one to Cameron is probably Fayetteville, but it will probably be easier to fly into Raleigh. That is only an hour away, and we usually fly out of there when were on the road. Dont worry, either Jeff, Matt, or one of our good friends will be there to pick up the two of you. Just call me when you book a flight, and well go form there. Why so quickly Ry? I thought you were going to wait until after you had the baby. We just decided that we want to keep it private, and that way Chris wont find out and show up to wreck it. I hear ya. Ok, well Ill call you sometime this week. Ok John, I love you. Love you too little sis. Ryann hung up with her brother, and went to find Jeff. |
