Cassidy and Lainey both arrived home around eight thirty that night, and were exhausted from the long day they both had. Lainey was trying to clean the water solvent black light paint off their couch, and Cassidy was cooking dinner. They were listening to the stereo. Lainey heard a knock on the front door, so she went to answer it. She opened the door, and saw Nathan. Hi Nathan.
Lainey, where is Cassidy?
Nathan, look. Cassidy is dating somebody else. I think you should go.
I am not leaving until I talk to her.
Cassidy came into the living room and saw Nathan at the door. She rolled her eyes, and walked over. Lainey, Ive got this.
Lainey walked back over to the couch and continued scrubbing the paint off. Cassidy stood in the doorway, and said, What now?
Cant we talk about us? Nathan asked.
I already told you Nathan, we arent together anymore. I am with Matt now.
I know, but we were together for so long you just want to throw that away because Matt Hardy gave you a second look?
Actually, it has nothing to do with Matt. Its all about you. I cant take it anymore. I dont like to be bossed around and told what to do. If I go and do something that you dont like, like hanging out with my sister, you flip out on me and we fight about it for a week.
I can work on that.
Youve said that a million times before. You are never going to change, and I am never going to change my mind. I dont want to be with you anymore. How long is it going to take you to realize that?
Cassidy
No Nathan. It is over between us. Now go home.

Cassidy did not wait for a response. She slammed the door in his face. She started to walk back to the kitchen, and heard Nathan banging on the door. Cassidy walked back over to it and opened it. What?
I wasnt finished talking to you.
Well, I am so sorry. Cassidy said sarcastically. Please, say whatever it is that youd like. I am a very busy woman.
Cassidy
Ya know what Nathan? I dont give a rats ass about what you have to say. I said its over, and I am through talking to you. If I have to come back to this door one more time, I will not hesitate to kick the living hell out of you. Now, I said goodbye, and I meant it. Cassidy slammed the door in Nathans face for the second time, and headed back to the kitchen. She was in the doorway, and they both heard, Cassidy, come on. I love you. Dont you love me? I would do anything for you Cassidy spun around and shot straight for the door. Lainey ran and stopped her before she got to the door. Cassidy, come on. If you ignore him, hell go away.
Shut up Lainey. Cassidy said. Her eyes were on the door. She shoved her sister to the side, and flung the door open. She pushed Nathan backward, and he fell down the three steps, and landed on his back on the walkway. Cassidy ran down after him, and jumped on top of him. She had a hold of his shirt and she punched him in the face. She hit him again, and yelled, Have you had enough Nathan? Or do I need to make you understand that I hate you!
No Cassidy, I get it, I get it.
Lainey was standing in the doorway, watching to make sure her sister didnt get out of control. Cassidy stood up and dragged Nathan to his feet. She still had a hold of his shirt. One thing you never knew about me Nathan, is that I know how to fight. Now leave my house, and I dont expect to see you here ever again. I dont expect to see you again, ever! Now get the hell out of here! Cassidy shoved Nathan again, this time toward his car. He got in, and backed out of the driveway. Cassidy stood on the front lawn and watched him go, just to make sure that he did. When his car was out of sight, Cassidy turned to go inside, and saw Lainey standing in the doorway. What? Cassidy asked.
   I didnt say anything Cass.
Then why are you looking at me like that?
   Like what?
That disapproving look you have on your face.
   Well
Just go see if you can get that god damned paint off my couch.
Yes maam. Lainey said, and walked into the house. Cassidy followed her.

Ya know Cassidy said to Lainey as she walked by her on her way to the kitchen. Id have done the same thing to Jeffs girlfriend for you this morning.
I am not looking to fight with Lizzie.
You do like Jeff, dont you?
Yes I like him. But I am not looking to break him up with his girlfriend. I he likes me, then he will do it on his own.
Lainey, I wish that for just once in your life you would grow a back bone and go after what you wanted.
Tell me this, sister dear, would you want some girl coming up and trying to break up you and your man?
No, but
Then I rest my case. I am fine with Jeff having a girlfriend. If it is meant to be, then it will happen. If it isnt, then it wont. I can be his friend.
Lainey, Lainey, Lainey. I dont understand how we can be twins, yet be so different.
Its easy; youve always been pushier than me. Ever since the day we were born. You had to be the first one out, now didnt you?
Whatever Cassidy said, and went back into the kitchen to finish cooking dinner.

Lainey ended up getting all of the paint off the couch, and Cassidy apologized to her for getting all bent out of shape about it. The girls sat down for a nice dinner together, the first one theyd had in quite awhile.
So Cass, youve got to tell me. How did you and Matt get together?
I told you Lain we met at the store, and Matt thought I was you.
I know what you said, but I mean, he spent the night last night.
Matt took me to the Red Room, and Nathan was there. He came over and started bugging me, and after Matt told him off, I started drinking. I was drunk, and wanted to make Nathan mad, so I asked Matt to dance, and things went a little too far. I didnt mean for any of it to happen, but I am really attracted to Matt. And let me tell you little sister, if Jeff is anything like Matt in bed, you have a lot to look forward to.
I did not need to know that much Cass.
Well, Jeffs girlfriend did break up with him on the phone this morning. Whats your next move?
I dont have a next move. Whatever happens, happens. Jeff and Lizzie will probably get back together when he gets home. Besides, when we were at the airport yesterday, he was talking to me about thinking he has met someone else. So if he and Lizzie do stay broken up, hell go for that other girl he was talking about.
And what if he was talking about you?
I doubt that he was.
Lainey, life is too short for you to be waiting around for some guy. Ill tell you what; Ill ask Matt to find out what Jeff thinks about you. That way youll know, and you can make a move, or move on.
Please dont Cass.
I am going to, and there is nothing you can do to stop me.
Come on. I would never do anything like that to you.
Fine Lainey, have it your way. Just dont come crying to me later on when your heart is broken.
Dont worry sister dear, I wont.
Cassidy had told her sister she wasnt going to do anything about it, but she didnt mean it. She was determined that she was going to find out how Jeff felt about her sister. If Matt wouldnt help her, she would go straight to Jeff and ask in point blank. That was the type of person Cassidy was. She wasnt afraid to say or do whatever she wanted. And it did not matter what other people thought about her, she did whatever she had to. And she was sick of seeing her sister so miserable and unhappy.

Cassidy and Lainey were watching television when the phone rang. Cassidy got up to answer it. Hello?
Hi, who is this?
   Cassidy. Who is this?
Its Matt.
Hey Cassidy said as she walked out of the room. Where are you?
I am at the hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts. What are you doing right now?
I was watching TV with my sister.
I miss you.
   You do?
Yeah, I do. I cant wait until Wednesday so I can see you.
Me either. Have you talked Jeff?
Yes, I just got off the phone with him. We usually talk to each other after every show, to see how things went. Why?
Did he say anything to you about Lainey?
Maybe why do you ask?
I was talking to her earlier, and we got into a discussion about him, and I told her she should just go for it, but she wont. She doesnt think Jeff could be interested in her, and I was just wondering if you knew whether or not he was.
He didnt say, but he did talk about how relieved he was that Lizzie broke up with him.
   So hes happy about it?
That is the impression he gave me. We should probably try to give him some time to recover before we try to hook him up with your sister.
   Time to recover?
He was with Lizzie for three and a half years. I know that they were fighting all the time, but I think that right now Jeff needs some time for Jeff.
I understand. So how did your show go?
Good, I won, again.
Youre going to have to tell me more about wrestling.
What do you want to know?
Everything. Were going to have to spend some serious time together, because I want to know everything about you.
Likewise sweetie. I want to know all about you too! When did you decide that you wanted to become a chef?
I always wanted to, for as long as I can remember. My mom wasnt much of a cook, and I didnt want to eat frozen dinners all the time. I decided that when I grew up, I was going to cook real food. At one time, I thought Id teach my mom how to cook, but she just wasnt interested.
So when are you going to cook for me?
When do you want me to?
As soon as possible. I havent had a really good home cooked meal in a long time.
I will see if I can get Wednesday off, and cook for you then.
That sounds really good.

Cassidy and Matt were on the telephone until two thirty in the morning. They were starting to get to know more about one another, and Cassidy liked what she was hearing. Finally, she had a man in her life that was ambitious, intelligent, and great in bed. She never thought she would be able to find all of those qualities in a man. Matt had goals and dreams, and he would do what had to be done to make those dreams come true. Cassidy all of a sudden felt like she was headed in the right direction.

Matt also liked what he was learning about Cassidy. He had met a woman who wasnt after him for his money. She hadnt even wanted to go out with him in the first place. And she could cook. Matt loved to eat, but fast food wasnt his idea of good. He decided that from what he had learned about his girlfriend so far, she was definitely a keeper.
