Capatalistic quandary:
I'm looking after a senior citizen; his name is Scotty. He owns and manages a couple of rental properties. His auto-shop tennant had me do a total refurbish on a furnace recently. Upon completion of the work, the tennant said "Give me the bill, I'll give it to Scotty." I said phooey, forget about it. I want Scotty to do what's right. So then, if I charge him for doing it, how persuasive am I being? He'll eventually say no. Thus we have my central dillemma: how do I make a living doing what I love to do? A shrink would say I'm conflicted. The labor of love is the most powerful force on earth. Capatalism presumes to neutralize it.
In the deterministic model, control is an artifact. Participation is responsibility.
Creativity trumps determinism.
I tend to aid people in doing what's right, like a power-assist system. If someone asks for my help in doing something I deem wrong, I suggest alternatives in a manner that allows for face-saving. I'd concede that perhaps I don't understand the real driving forces. And I'm not in the business of running interference. But, while unconvinced, I'm rightly reluctant.
