Ann Coulter's writings have horrified me. Her writings exhibit an extreme inattention to fairness. It sickens me to witness that such unfair arguing could sell well to an American audience.
--lies about Al Gore supposedly having no evidence upon which to base his claim that the author of the famous novel Love Story used him as inspiration for the male, romance-type character of the novel.
NOTE: this page is in-process. I will have MUCH more here soon. The comments in brackets are notes to myself.
--lying about what Al Gore says in his book Earth In The Balance about the Cain and Abel parable in the book of Genesis in the Bible. --falsehoods surely intended to mislead readers (falsehoods worded in ways that suggest that she wants readers to take the claim as literally true) [cite example of "lies" claim on p 6 of Slander, about Clinton's statements under oath] --failure to support key claims with evidence [cite example of "lies" claim on p 6 of Slander] [list all page numbers, & count all instances of her claiming Gore claimed to have "invented" the internet (and all related variants of the attribution). w/o giving readers the full quote (removing his mention of "while in CONGRESS"). Refute her silly thesarus-test for the appropriateness of substituting "invent" for "create" (by simply pointing out that invent is a specific type of creating -- a type Gore absolutely didn't intend to mean.) Also: why WITHHOLD words from readers, when she --missing reference information. [cite example of chapter that starts with stupid statements attributed to Al Gore, but only NYT article is given as the source (no author, or even a date is given!)] [cite example of her citing a news service (without revealing whether a transcript, book, statement of a person, or what, was the source of her claim): her claim in Slander that Al Gore said he was responsible for the publicizing of Love Canal] --question-begging (e.g., Gores all F grades in his last semester of divinity school: couldn't have been simply a drop-out [stopped attending class]. Yes, it was...SHE doesn't give a source, even though she does quote authors who HAVE published why [authors of The Prince of Tennessee, who quote Gore saying "when I learned that I would have to learn ancient Greek my motivation was exceeded"].] --nonsensical accusations [cite example of her complaining about "Contract On America" not being the title of Newt G's book "Contract With America". Why doesn't she clarify? Surely because any clarification would be absurd. She can't claim that Clinton was trying to make people think that was the real title. She invites a false inference: Clinton was trying to mislead people into thinking that was the actual title]
