About Mr. Dahm

Jeff Dahm is currently a Video Production Teacher at the High School of Science and Technology in Springfield, MA.
Jeff began teaching Video to High School students after a 9 year career in local television news. He has worked as a news
photographer, video editor, live truck operator, and even the done an occasional reporting shift in the Springfield and Hartford, CT. television markets.  He began teaching in 1999 to challenge young people to express themselves in a creative and positive way, and to develop an awareness of the world of information that has exploded on the internet, which also seems destined to integrate itself with the video medium as well.  He believes that students must be made aware of the economic, social, and political motivations of those that deliver information, and equip them with skills that help them to identify quality information, as well as appreciate the artistry that is used to deliver a message to an audience, whether it is news or entertainment. The lesson plans and links on this page are designed to facilitate other teachers who teach this and other related subjects in an educational context.  Many of the lessons presented here now and in the future will address information that he wished he had been exposed to before learning them on the job the hard way! You are invited to explore these sites and help develop the lessons and skills that kids need now more than ever.
