Additional Information

1) Power Calibration error when writing to specific CDR/RW media
2) Specific VideoCD titles will play but cannot be copied.
3) Super Video CD playback does not work
4) 2-second gap is heard when copies of 'live concert' audio CDs are made.
5) Win2K CD player exhibits audio distortion during playback when specific
operations are used(e.g. Pause-forward-play,..)

Dell-Cody: Latest Firmware as of 5 / 8 /2001 for NEC DV-5800A DVDROM drive (v1.07), can be found here.

~~Note: this is not a Dell submitted firmware update but has corrected the problem with burning 80 minute CD~~

Trouble: I Could not make 700MB 80 Minute Audio CD [With a project size loaded to the max length allowed in the CD Creator Software] that could be played on any player but if I used an 80 minute CD and loaded the project size for a max allowed for a 74 Minute CD [650MB], I did not have any problems. I found that on the 80 Minute CD I could only write approx. 78 Minutes but the files could only be read on my CD-RW Drive. I don't know what other problems that you can have?

Please note. That the CD Creator software told me that I had completed a successful write and that the music CD was finalized but it could not be played on any player except on the CD-RW Drive.

I then down-loaded & Installed the Sony Firmware upgrade Version 1.0N. I do not have any more problems. [ http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/cdr/cdrf.htm ]

For Your Information: I recently found that there is an update for the
Sony CRX100E CD-R & CD-RW drive from version 1.0M to 1.0N, both Sony &
Dell deny that there is an update. I down-loaded the 1.0N version from [
http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/cdr/cdrf.htm ] and did
the update, it resolved my problems with reading and writing an 80
minute CD.

Installation Instructions
1. Download the executable to your desktop.
2. Double click on the executable and follow the on-screen prompts (You
will need a blank floppy diskette)
3. Once diskette has been created, restart the system with the diskette
inserted in the floppy drive.
4. The firmware flash will start automatically. Follow any on-screen
prompts that may appear.
5. Once reflash has completed, please restart the system for changes to
take effect.
