A-9 Vigilance Interceptor: An Imperial starfighter, this short-range fighter was introduced about six years after the Battle of Endor, soon after Grand Admiral Thrawn's defeat. The A-9 Vigilance Interceptor gives up shields and hyperdrive for speed. Faster than TIE interceptors, it's about equal to the New Republic's A-wing fighters. Imperial forces use its foward-firing laser cannons for hit-and-run attacks on hardened Republic installations. However, overall performance is less than hoped for because of its limited maneuverability and relatively weak hull.

E-wing Starfighter: One of the newest starfighters in the New Republic fleet, it was introduced during Grand Admiral Thrawn's reign of terror. The E-wing is from the same designers who developed the X-wing starfighter for Incom Corporation. It was built to protect convoys from raiding missions, so it had respectable speed. But its biggest attribute is increased firepower, mainly its triple laser cannons and sixteen proton torpedoes. A single pilot controls the craft and its advanced armament, and the new R7 series astromech droid provides systems assistance.

Executor: The personal flagship of Darth Vader, it was the first Super-class Star Destroyer. The Executor was 8,000 meters long, or about five times the size of an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. Such enormous ships are really overkill because a smaller vessel could as easily fulfill the specific duties of a headquarters ship. But the Executor's purposes included symbolizing the Emperor's unlimited power and resources and frightening planets and whole systems into submission. The Executor was presented to Lord Vader shortly after the Battle of Yavin, where the first Death Star was destroyed, It carried more than 1,000 weapons; two full wings of TIE fighters, totaling 144 ships, and 200 other combat and support ships; 38,000 ground stormtroopers; and enough garrison bases and Imperial walkers to destroy any Rebel base. The ship originally was commanded by Admiral Ozzel, but after his death at the hands of an unforgiving Vader, Admiral Piett was given command. The Executor was destroyed at the Battle of Endor. After its shield generators were eliminated, a Rebel fighter pilot deliberately smashed his fighter into the Executor's bridge, and the out-of-control ship was pulled into the uncompleted second Death Star, exploding on impact.
Landspeeder: Any of a wide variety of small surface transports that use repulsorlift engines for hovering and speed. The repulsor field that is generated is enough to keep speeders suspended even when parked. Sometimes called floaters or skimmers, landspeeders have been adapted for a wide variety of terrain, including sand, snow, and even water. Traditional landspeeders such as the SoroSuub X-34, the model that Luke Skywalker first owned, have open cockpits with retractable duraplex windscreens. The smallest can seat only a driver and passenger, although a pair of droids can be secured to back panels over the repulsor field generator. Controls are limited to a steering wheel and foot pedals, and only nooks and crannies are left for cargo. A simple scanner provides information on navigation, traffic, and speed. Top speed is about 250 kilometers per hour. The most popular landspeeders currently on the market include Bespin Motors's Void Spider TX-3, the Ubrikkian 9000 Z001, the Mobquet Deluxe A-1, and the new SoroSuub XP-38.
