What are hieroglyphics, and how do they work?

Hieroglyphics are symbols which represent sounds. Each hieroglyph may represent one or more sounds. To make a word, simply use the hieroglyphics to phonetically spell the word, then put the words together to make sentences.

So, does this mean that I can write in Egyptian?

Unfortuately not. Egyptian is a different language, like French or Russian. Hieroglyphics are simply the alphabet that Egyptians used. Because their alphabet is based on sounds, we can use it for any language, not just Egyptian or English.
