Yamaha R1 front brake caliper modification for FZR1000 RU. The front brake calipers of an R1 are a simple bolt on modification with no brackets or fabrication needed but don't forget to fit a new set of R1 brake pads. The FZR brake line bangos need to be rotated 90 degrees to enable the brake hoses to be attached. Thanks to Ian (Fangface) for the photos.

The EXUP valve The EXUP valve is a common big problem if it is neglected. The valve if it seizes up it causes a drop of power at about 4000 + rpm It is a good idea to strip it once a year and grease all the moving parts, this also includes the cables from the servo motor which is located behind the left hand seat panel. Please beware that if the valve seizes solid it means that the exhaust downpipes will need replacing. Which are about 400 pounds new. Try PART FINDER and alike services to locate a second hand unit. Cost should be about 130 -170 pounds. Part Finder's contact number is 09060 330330

FZR1000 De-restricting Here's how to release those hidden Horses that are restricted by Yamaha. Step oneTake the fuel tank off. Step two Undo the bolt and clips that hold on the airbox to the carbs and remove the airbox. Step three Undo the clips that clamp the carbs to the engine intake rubbers. Move the carbs to one side, the throttle cables can be left attached. Step four remove the rubbers that connect the carbs to the engine block. Step five take a modelling scapel or alike and cut out the rubber web in the rubbers that connect the carbs to the engine. Re-assembly the parts making sure that all clamps and rubbers are tight with no air leaks. Job done.
