Summary:
After the death of the Mormons' founding leader, Joseph Smith, Brigham Young sets out to lead his people westward to Utah,
a "promised land" where they can escape religious persecution. But the trip's challenges are more than just man versus
untamed land, as trail scout Jonathan Kent discovers when he falls in love with a non-Mormon in this riveting film about
the Mormon settling of Salt Lake City.

Eye On Jean:
Jean Rogers has a very small part in this movie playing Clara Young.
Jean is listed ninth in the cast of characters and only speaks three lines.
She was not immediately recognizable to me because of her character's conservative dress and limited dialog.
Jean is mostly in scenes where Clara silently accompanies Brigham Young or his wife, Mary Ann.
Clara's lack of dialog made it difficult for me to determine what her relationship to Brigham Young was.
I assumed that she was his daughter.
Only from listening to the commentary track did I learn that Clara Young was Brigham Young's SECOND WIFE!
This fact was probably not revealed in the movie because it would undermine the theme of
Brigham Young as an inspirational frontiersman and "hero" and also generate much controversy among the non-Mormon audience.
Getting back to Jean Rogers, since she has a very small part with limited dialog,
I would not recommend to her fans that they buy this movie unless they happen to like good frontier/westerns.
On a final note, the movie appears to have been cleaned or remastered for DVD.
