When Karen finally woke up, it was to a loud scream, coming from somewhere bellow her. She sat up quickly and looked around the room. She was lying in the red room, where she had come to speak to her father earlier. There was no one else in the room so Karen jumped out of bed. She stumbled, trying to regain her balance, and finally succeeded. She wasn't sure how long she'd been a sleep, but it seemed like it had been mere minutes.

'Be careful'. Her father said, concerned, as Karen hurried out into the hallway and down the stairs to find the source of the scream. As she hopped from the last step she nearly crashed into Christine and Laura, who seemed to be moving at a similar speed as Karen.

"Karen!" They said, suprised to see her up.

"You're awake, we were just coming to get you up, sleepy head!!" Christine said.

"Is everyone alright?" Karen asked. "Someone screamed."

"Oh, that was just Krys, she's been on edge since we did this Seance thing last night." Laura explained.

"Seance? Did Tash finally show you guys how??" Karen asked, fearing the worst.

"No, actually, Sherry and Tash left last night to get some supplies, just incase we got flooded in." Christine explained.

"Flooded in?? But it's not raining!" Karen said.

"Not now, but it was. They didn't get back in time. The bridge's flooded, there's no getting on or off this island until the water receeds." They were all silent for a moment.

"Then where'd you learn how to do a Seance??" Karen asked.

"It was in that book I found yesterday. It's sooooo cool! It says it summons evil spirits or something, but it's probably just suspicious bullshit!" Laura said, enthusiastically. Karen's face darkened.

"You did what??!!!" She shouted. The two starred at her, in shock. "What the hell were you THINKING!!!! You guys just summoned an evil spirit and all you can say about it, is COOL??!!! Shit, you guys! How could you have done this??!!" She said finally, eyes widened and face flushed with a mixture of fear and anger.

"Uh, are you okay, Karen?" Laura asked nervously.

"No I'm not okay!" Karen shouted, then wheeled around and dashed up the stairs, skipping steps all the way to the top, then ran into the Red room, slamming and locking the door behind her. A few seconds after Karen had done so, there was a knock at the door.

"Karen?" Christine's voice came through loud and clear, but Karen ignored her. Instead she walked over to the mirror and looked into it, her father was there.

"What's in the book?" She demanded.

'I'm not sure exactly. It's something evil and it's been released.'

"How do you know?" Karen asked. Her father ignored her question.

'It's been waiting, expecting, lusting. It needs someone it can control. It needs someone it can kill. It's found that someone.'

"What the hell are you talking about? What's waiting?? Why?? How do you know all this?? Who's it controlling??" Karen demanded loudly.

'Shhhh, they'll hear you.'

"I don't care!! This thing, whatever it is might kill us and you wont tell me what it is!! How do you know??? How do you know?????!!!!!! HOW DO YOU KNOW????!!!!" She could hear her father sigh behind her and saw him turn away from the mirror.

'Your mother never told you what killed me. She never told you what happened, but you have a right to know.'

"Know what?"

'Adrienne killed me.'

"WHAT??!!"

'Let me finish. The thing in that book your friends have. It's evil. Your mother accidently let it loose . . . it took me over . . . made me do horrible things to her . . . try to kill her . . . so she killed me.'

Karen looked at the mirror in shock. "That's why you didn't want me to come here." She saw her father nod slowly in the mirror.

'She did the only thing she possible could. I forgive her, of course. If that thing had've killed her, you would have died too and that would have been only the beginning of it's evil deeds.'

"Then why hasn't it killed anyone yet??" Karen asked.

'After your mother killed me, she banished the demon, back into the book. Your friends used it, called the evil back, there will be no stopping it's evil this time.'

"Why don't I just banish it again??"

'It would be impossible. The demon must be in it's original form. It will kill whoever it views as a threat first, although I doubt it will see any of you as threats, so anyone could be first.' Karen was shocked. Her father killed by her mother?? No it wasn't true, it couldn't be! But yet, it was.

"I've gotta tell them, they have to know!" Karen said, heading for the door.

'No. I'm not sure who it is. I was with you when it happened. It could be any of them.' A wave of something very close to terror ran through Karen. She nodded, but still proceeded to the door and unlocked it. Christine and Laura were standing there with strange expressions on their face. Karen looked at them. Could it be one of them?? She pushed the thought asside and forced a smile.

"It's okay, I'm alright now. I guess I'm just a little stressed out!" Karen said. The two seemed to relax and they smiled back.

"I could really use some Iced Tea. We bring any along?" Christine asked.

"Yeh, I think so," Laura said. The three of them headed for the stairs.

"I could use one too!" Karen agreed. She suddenly realised how parched she was.

When they reached the kitchen a strange sight greated them. Krystal was standing behind the stove, where several pots of water were boiling. Krystal was madly adding a variety off spices and vegetables to the water.

"Krys, what are you doing?" Christine asked.

"What does it look like I'm doing?? I'm making dinner!" Krystal said.

"But it's only eleven!!" Karen exclaimed, walking over to check out in more detail what Krystal was throwing together.

"Yeh! A good meal takes time!" Krys said, rather harshly.

"Where'd you get all this??" Laura asked, waving a limp carrot at Krys.

"The spices were in the back cupboard and the vegies . . ." Krys paused to take the carrot Laura was waving in her face and put it down on the counter. " . . . were growing out back."

"Ew! You know what be in those things??!!" Vicky said, from where she sat at the table sipping a coke.

"Hey, bitch! If you're just gonna sit around and insult my every move, you can get your lazy ass off my island!" Krys yelled.

"Holy!" Was Vicky's only reaction. Everyone else silently starred at Krystal.

"Come on, guys. She's just pissed off, let's leave her alone for a while!" Karen said, leading the way out of the room and into the large room where everyone's sleeping bags had been laid out and a fire was crackling in the hearth. Brenna sat silently on the couch, a book in hand as usual.

"Hey, Brenna, didn't even see you there!" Vicky said coming over and sitting beside her. Brenna glared at Vicky then returned to her book.

"Anyone wanna play Four King's??" Laura asked.

"Oo! Me, me, me, me, me!" Christine said, running over to where Laura was sitting with a deck of cards in hand. Karen came over and joined them. Laura set up the cards and Christine named her Kings.

"David, Graeme, uh, Daniel and . . . "

"Ewan!" Karen pitched in.

"Ew!" Laura said, disgusted.

"Natalie would freak anyways if she found out you were using her guy in Four King's!" Vicky yelled from the couch.

"Why couldn't Natalie come, anyways?" Laura asked.

"I don't know, something about some computer game designer . . . Robin Williams??" Christine said.

"No, stupid! ROBERTA Williams!" Vicky said, walking over and flopping down accross from Karen. Christine shrugged.

"Well, she couldn't come, in any event!" Laura said, then turned back to the game. They shuffled and asked questions, until finally it was time for Christine to find out who she was going to marry.

"And the winner is . . . oh, my God!" Laura said.

"What?? What is it?" Karen asked concerned. She grabbed the card from Laura and looked at it. "Oh!" There was a skull on it with a snake crawling out of one eye. At the bottom was scribbled in red ink: Consumite Furore. Christine took the card from Karen and gasped.

"Uh . . ." She started, then suddenly the door from the kitchen flew open and Krys came out.

"Christine!" She said, catching sight of her. She rushed over and grabbed her by the collar. "I need your help in the kitchen!" She explained as they both went through the door.

"That was weird!" Vicky exclaimed.

"Yeh!" Laura agreed.

"You guys wanna go outside, check out the grounds?? I could really stretch my legs!" Karen said, trying to find something to break the strange mood. Everyone agreed to it, except Brenna who decided to stay inside and read for a while. They all slipped on their sneakers and quickly went out the door.

Brenna sat there reading and finally looked up after four hours, only to realise that she had completely skipped lunch and was now starving. She put down her book and slipped into the kitchen where Krystal was still busy over the stove.

"Krys, you got anything I could eat around here??" Brenna asked. Krys shrugged.

"There's some chips and chocolate bars in the cooler if you want something."

"Kay, thanks," Brenna said going over to where the cooler rested on the table." She lifted the lid and pulled out a bag of Doritos and a Diet Coke. Then just as she closed the lid, her eyes fell on something concealed behind the cooler. She took a closer look, there was a pair of glasses, obviously Christine's lying there, one lense was cracked while the other remained intact.

"What happened to Christine's glasses??" Brenna asked, a little confused. Krystal almost glared at her.

"She ran into the pantry door on her way out with some things." Krys explained quickly, sounding annoyed.

"Where is Christine, anyways??"

"She's out back collecting some more vegetables for me."

"Without her glasses??" Brenna was getting a little suspicious.

"Look! She had an extra pair with her! Now will you leave me alone! I'm trying to get dinner ready!" Krystal yelled.

"Sorry!" Brenna apologised as she rushed out.

"Bitch!" Krystal mumbled, as Brenna left the room.

Moments after Brenna returned to her book the door flew open and Vicky, Karen and Laura came in.

"So, find anything interesting??" Brenna asked popping a chip into her mouth.

"Everything was all grown in but it was so cool!" Laura said. "There was this freaky bridge thing! And a buncha stuff!" Suddenly the door to the kitchen opened and Krys shouted.

"EVERYONE COME HERE!!! IT'S READY!!!" They all streamed into the kitchen and took their places around the small table and Krys came around and served each of them some of the soup she'd been working on, literally all day.

"No! I'm not hungry!" Brenna said. The chips had been a lot more filling then they usually were. Laura took the first bite and looked up at Krys who stood over them, waiting expectantly. It was suprisingly good!

"Hey! This is pretty good!" Laura exclaimed. Everyone else agreed.

"Where'd you find this meat??" Laura said, nibbling on a piece of the meat that resembled chicken.

"That's, a secret!" Krys said with an evil grin. Laura shrugged and stuffed the piece in her mouth.

"It's good, whatever it is!" Vicky admitted.

"Where'd Christine go??" Karen asked as she scooped some of the vegetables onto a spoon.

"Oh, she's around . . ." Karen looked up at Krys and suddenly stopped eating. She looked down at her bowl and realised where exactly, Christine was . . .
