| My Quiapo Experience | |
Just last year I went, for the very first time, to the very busy area of Quiapo where I met "Lady Red. I can still recall how she waved at me from the middle of the plaza. I don't know what compelled me to choose her among the many other fortune tellers who were also relentlessly pimping themselves with their waving hands. I didn't care much either. I wasn't going to base my life's choices upon her predictions. And so for the heck of it I thought I'd try out the famous Quiapo fortune tellers. I thought I may not be able to go back there for a long time so I decided to let go of my crispy hundred bill in exchange for some "special" fortune telling. You see, they use tarrot cards for the P100 session where you can ask three questions, and the regular playing cards for the ordinary session where you, I think, can only ask one question. Our fortune telling session by the plaza started. "Lady Red" started with some motherhood statements that failed to get specific by the end of the session. I won't get into the details of the things she predicted because there were not much details anyway. But something did get stuck into my mind, that the thing I desire at that very moment will find its way into my hands if I just wait for my turn at luck. She said that if I patiently wait and not force things to happen, I will get what I desire. Roughly three months after, "Lady Red" proved herself right. I got what I wanted, something that I didn't expect. Sure, "Lady Red" may have said something very general, but it did help me to decide on what to do. It reinforced my long-term belief that some victories are better won effortlessly. And that sometimes, we should just let things happen by themselves for only then can we be sure that they're really meant to be. I admit to be a little too superstituos at times, I believe in karma and bad/good luck. I like to consult my daily and weekly horoscopes. But I believe in such things and do such things not because they prove right in my life all the time, but because they serve as day-to-day motivations to do good and battle whatever bad luck that may come my way.
