| Super Saiyan | This is a powered-up version of a normal Saiyan. When they reach this stage, their hair turns bright yellow and their eyes turn green. The legend of the Super Saiyan states that their can be no stronger force during battle, but this proves to be false. Just about all of the important Saiyans reach this stage: Goku, Vegeta, Brolly, Gohan, Goten, and Trunks. The requirements for reaching this stage is simple: the fighter must obtain a power level of 100,000 and he must get super angry. Otherwise, the transformation will not occur. |
| Ultra Super Saiyan | This version is a beefed up form of a normal Super Saiyan, who can't quite reach level 2. Muscle bulk increases, but speed decreases in this form. Trunks and Brolly reach this form, but Vegeta can't quite make it all the way. To reach this form, a fighter must have a very high power level but anger has nothing to do with the transformation. |
| Super Saiyan 2 | This stage is easily more powerful than the first stage. In this form, the hair gets a little longer and the muscles are more bulky. Only three Saiyans reach this stage: Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta. Gohan reaches it during the Cell games and Goku and Vegeta both reach it when they are fighting each other when Vegeta gets charmed into being Majin Vegeta. |
| Super Saiyan 3 | This form is far the strongest normal Super Saiyan stages. It's one of the odd looking stages, with hair down to the feet, eyebrow ridges pushed out and eyebrows completely gone. All this physical deformacy equals an immense source of power, which saves lives in a pinch. Goku and the fused warrior, Gotenks, are the only two Saiyans to reach this stage. |
| Super Saiyan 4 | This form can only be seen in the Dragonball GT series. It is not a true Super Saiyan (along the Z lines that is), but it's a mix between Oozaru and human. In this form, fighters keep their hair color, and red fur grows across their body (except for SS4 Gogeta, he had brown fur and red hair) and wear some funky looking pants. Some people believe this is the true Super Saiyan form, since the Golden Oozaru can be reached in this stage. Also when Vegeta explains the legend of the Super Saiyan, a Golden Oozaru appears in the background. |
| Oozaru | This form isn't seen much after the early episodes in DBZ, but they do pop up occasionally in DBGT. Oozaru form is reached when a Saiyan has a tail and looks at a full moon or an energy level that can mimic it. When they do, they grow fur all over their, eyes turn red and grow to immense height. A Saiyan's power increases by 10 times in this form. |
| The Fusion | The idea to fuse warriors was Akira Toriyama (creator of DB) Two warriors can fuse together to become one. They can do this in two ways: the fusion dance or by Potara earings. Goten and Trunks first used the fusion dance during the Buu Saga. When attempting to defeat Buu, they formed Gotenks. After dome training, Gotenks was able to reach Super Saiyan 3 level. Goku and Vegeta also used the dance and formed Gogeta. They also used the Potara earings to form Vegetto. |
