One Tear
One Policeman stood, looking on
after the crash
At a loss for actions, he was covered in
ash
No smiles, no frowns, but the emotion
was clear
For in the corner of his eye, lay one
glistening tear
A man hardened by his many years on the
force
Steadfast, solid, always sure of his
course
Now suddenly this, what could he do
As he surveyed the scene, he had not one
clue
Thousands dead, that was his fear
But no movement was visible, except for
one tear
It ran down his face, and in the ash
left a trail
No words, no movement, yet it still told
the tale
That behind the blue and the badge,
there still was a man
Who now stood witness to more than he
could withstand
As the tear traveled on, it dripped off
of his chin
And in the corner of his eye, one more
tear did begin
