Imagine

In a different time, in a different land
Without the hostilities inbred in man
No hatred, no war, no foolish pride
Imagine life, with no dark side
Living, loving, just being free
No pain, no worries, just my pleasures and me
Would I appreciate the freedom of the ride
Never having known the darker side
No top, no bottom, just one endless plane
Could I treasure the good, without having known pain
It's just a question, a thought that I pose
The dream of it is great, but who really knows
For how do you believe, if you've never known doubt
And how do you cherish, if you've never done without
We cry, we suffer, and yes we've all known pain
It's like appreciating the sun,  for having known rain
So we carry on in spite of the strife
Learning to enjoy the different levels in life

One Tear

One Policeman stood, looking on  after the crash
At a loss for actions, he was covered in ash
No smiles, no frowns, but the emotion was clear
For in the corner of his eye, lay one glistening tear
A man hardened by his many years on the force
Steadfast, solid, always sure of his course
Now suddenly this, what could he do
As he surveyed the scene, he had not one clue
Thousands dead, that was his fear
But no movement was visible, except for one tear
It ran down his face, and in the ash left a trail
No words, no movement, yet it still told the tale
That behind the blue and the badge, there still was a man
Who now stood witness to more than he could withstand
As the tear traveled on, it dripped off of his chin
And in the corner of his eye, one more tear did begin
