Lupus Memorial Quilt Information

Over two years in the making, this quilt is our way of remembering and celebrating the lives of our loved ones who died of Lupus. In addition to this tribute it is our wish to draw attention to this often misunderstood disease by displaying the quilt at various public places such as libraries, hospitals and quilt shows.

Our gratitude goes out to Phyllis Arnett of Bourbon, MO., who in 1997, after her 18 year old daughter was diagnosed with Lupus, came up with the idea to make a quilt as a way to provide an opportunity to convey important information about Lupus and other autoimmune diseases. Since that time she has made 10 more quilts that travel our country.

Thanks to Hazel Dion of Pekin, for suggesting that our "Branch" design and make their own quilt. Thanks to Customized Embroidery of Pekin for their work in making the quilt squares. Thanks to Phyllis for taking the squares and finishing the quilt. Thanks to Anna Betzelberger of Pekin for designing the quilt flyer and to Soderstrom Dermatology Center, Peoria, for their financial help with this work.
