T.H.I.N.K. before you speak...
You have this tendency sometimes to speak without really thinking through what you're saying.  Once said, words cannot be taken back.  They can't be erased like off of a cassette tape.  If the words spoken are uplifting, this is great, but when the words are damaging, the wound is deep.

T - is it TRUE?
H - is it HELPFUL?
I - is it INSPIRING?
N - is it NECESSARY?
K - is it KIND?

If it's not all of these things, it's probably best to keep your mouth shut.

"When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise." -Proverbs 10:19

"...out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks." -Matthew 12:34

What does the overflow of your heart say about who you are on the inside?  Are you an uplifiting person to be around, or do you drain others?

"Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." -Colossians 4:6

"...turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge." -1 Timothy 6:20

"Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels." -2 Timothy 2:23

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." -Ephesians 4:29
