Getting with God

I have this nasty tendency sometimes to, whenever I get busy, drop my quiet times with the Lord instead of dropping something else.

Even Jesus realized the importance of quiet times with God the Father, and JESUS WAS HIS SON!

"...and [Jesus] said to them, 'sit here while I go over there and pray.'"  -Matthew 26:36

"Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."  -Matthew 4:4

Jesus realized that we sometimes have to retreat from the daily grind to get with Him.  He was in the middle of something with the disciples, when he told them to stay put so he could go pray.  If Jesus put what was going on in his life on hold to spend time with the Father, shouldn't that be a guideline for my life?

How can I live by the words from God if I don't devote time each day to becoming more accustomed to His voice?!  How can I know the commands He gives if I'm not spending time in His Word getting to know Him better and learning what He wants me to do in my life?

I need a hunger tto get in the Word daily!

How profound that the Son of God still found it important to get with God!!  How much more important that I should be with Him all the time?!

If my body is truly a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1), shouldn't I regularly offer it to Him as such?....EVERY DAY!!

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship."  -Romans 12:1
