| Artist's Statement and Comments on Style I chose to be an artist in 1987. Before that I was a writer. I started out on oils for the first two years and during the next two years I worked in oils and acrylics. So from 1992 to the present I haved worked only in acrylics. I am often asked what I paint and why. I paint realities I would like to be in. And I construct paintings I like to look at. My journey as an artist has led me through some developmental phases. Firstly, I painted paintings and enjoyed the reactions of my friends and neighbors to them. Then I took art classes in college and received expert criticism from the instructors, and good advice from classmates. Next, I put on my first one man show. I sold a painting. (continued) |
