WILLIAM (Barron), b abt 1740 in Ireland; married there 1760, Prudence Davis. She died 1815. They removed with their family to America and settled in 1766 in warren co., Ga. He served as Capt in REV. WAR and was wounded at the Siege of Augusta, GA. He fell into the hands of the Tories and they lured the Indians to behead him. the Tories put his head as a trophy of war on a pole, placed erect in the center of Augusta, where it remained three weeks, until the Whigs regained control of the the town and took it down. 4 children: John, b abt 1763 in Ireland; William, Jr, b in Ga 1767, married Martha Farr. he was a Rev. soldier; Samuel, married Joanna Braswell.
