PATIENCE attended a Young Ladies Institute in New Haven, conn. she was a native of Baldwin Co., a daughter of a prominent planter, James Barrow and his wife patience Crenshaw. She, and her brother, David, were orphans under the guardianship of old and well-known citizens of Milledgeville, Thomas W. Stubbs and Dr. Benjamin White. Mr. McKinley saw her for the first time as she entered the old Presbyterian church, became her famvored suiter, and they were married Feb 23 1836, making their home in Lexington. There ina a house still standing, their five children were born: Katherine, Caroline, Archibald, Carlisle, Mary and Sarah Barrow and there in 1847 shortly after the birth of her youngest child, the mother died and the home was broken up. During this residence in Lexington both husband and wife were among its most esteemed and beloved citizens, active in church and social life, and sorely missed when they were gone. POLLIE dau of Joseph Barrow, born in 1804 in NC and died at the family home in East Berrien, 6 Jan 1888. married John Gaskins, son of Fisher Gaskins (29 Jul 1802 Warren Co., GA-13 Jul 1865 Berrien Co., Ga). John & Pollie were married 14 May 1825 in Telfair county GA. soon after marriage, they settled on land a short distance north of John's father's home on the west side of the Alapaha river, near the site of the ont-time village of Bannockburn. John & Pollie died there. They had a fine plantation and a large herd of cattle and a number of slaves. Mr. & Mrs. Gaskins were buried at Riverside Baptist church near thir home. Their 10 known children were: Gideon, b 1826, m Sarah Knight, dau of Levi J.; Fisher, b 1828, m Elizabeth Sirmans, dau of Abner; John, b 1830, m Catherine Calder, no issue; Emily, b 1832, m Joseph Newbern, son of Dryden; William, b 1833, m Elizabeth Clements, dau of D G; Elam, b 1836, m Sarah Ann Sirmans, dau of Abner; Harrison, b 1838, m Roxie Sirmans, dau of James on 17 Apr 1862; Joseph, b 1840, m Harriet Sirmans, dau of James on 10 Feb 1865; Harmon, b 1842, died in his youth; Bryant, b 1846, died single.
