IS OLD GLORY NEXT?

Yes, I was born and raised in the South.  As a young child I remember my Grandmother telling me that the reason Georgia clay is red is because it was full of Yankee blood from the War of Northern Aggression, known to some as the Civil War.  I am proud of my heritage.  I am an American first, last and always and I cannot imagine the world today if the South had won the war.  That still does not change my feelings for my ancestors who fought and died for what they believed.

Today, the Stars and Bars of my ancestors are under attack.  My heritage is under attack by a minority who takes offense at the Battle Flag of the Confederacy.  They claim that that flag stands for slavery and makes them feel uncomfortable.  Well, EXCUSE ME!!!  It seems that some people can’t quit living in the past.  The War is over.  Let it go.  As long as you have a slave mentality, you will always be a slave to something or someone.

If we do buy the idea that we should not fly the Confederate Flag, then it seems only natural to me that we also need to stop flying Old Glory.  More “crimes against humanity” have been committed under the US flag than under the Confederate flag.  For example, the institution of slavery was begun under the US flag, not the Confederate flag.  The US Constitution even made allowances for slaves to be counted as 3/5 of a person.  During the 2nd World War, Japanese-Americans had all their property confiscated and they were placed in “relocation” camps.  There only crime was their ancestry.

It would seem to me that if we follow the logic of those who wish to forever remove the Stars and Bars, then we might as well take down Old Glory also.

Where will it stop?
