African Wildcat
This cat looks very similar to a normal housecat and crossbreeding happens very easily. The mere fact that they crossbreed so easily is seriously endangering the survival of the African wild cat. In some parts of the country a genetically pure wildcat is hard to find. It is believed the ancient Egyptians bred the housecat from the African Wildcat some three thousand years ago. They can be distinguished from a domestic cat by the rich red brown colour behind the ears, slightly longer legs and a black-ringed, blunt-ended tail.
