Sandy Bender graciously provided this photo of Neil as a young teen-ager doing his billiard-ball routine. She writes: "My father Dean was Neil's brother and my mother was Neil's assistant for a time in the mid-1940s. ... The family home at 1012 Garfield in Aurora, Ill., was home for a few years as Dad was in the service and Mom helped care for Grandma Foster, who was ill."

Another photo from Sandy Bender of Neil as a young man, performing Harry Blackstone's "Floating Light Bulb" in his yard.

This businesslike photo comes from Abbott's catalog No. 15, published about 1961, accompanying Neil's message to customers.

Another photo from Abbott's catalog No. 15, apparently an earlier publicity shot.
