Our varied SIR ARTHUR C. CLARKE LINKS | Visit the "CLARKIVES" at Dene Court

This effort, comprising approximately 200 images relating specifically to the personality of Sir Arthur C. Clarke, is intended to serve as an instructional, historical and occasionally curious resource for fans of Sir Arthur's unique life, writings and concepts.

You can save our server a lot of strain by touring these photos via the Google listing - although it's not organized!

DEDICATION:

This effort is dedicated to the memory of
Sir Arthur's mother, the late NORA HEAL CLARKE,
who in 1969 provided us with black-and-white originals
of images related to Sir Arthur's early life.
Those images appear as part of this collection.

Google's Clarke photo archive
(incomplete, junk-filled and repetitive!)

DO YOU HAVE A USE FOR AN IMAGE?

Many of these images are generic on the Web or are "on loan" from other sites. Others were submitted directly by their owners; some acknowledgements are listed below. Still others are scans from books and other sources.
Any copyrights are held by the owners and we have no other control over them; therefore, we *cannot* grant permission for any use beyond the Web. However, if you wish to use an image at another Web site, you have as much right to do so as we have.
If you credit us as your source, that would be kind; if other information about the photo is available here, it would be nice to present that as well.

* Other questions about this site? Contact John C. Sherwood *

(And, if you can provide an image we don't have, please let us know!)

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
The Sir Arthur C. Clarke Image Archive is a worldwide effort maintained and supported by a group of Sir Arthur's associates and fans, spread across the planet and linked by a communications system that, in large part, was envisioned by Sir Arthur in 1945. This project was launched by JOHN C. SHERWOOD of the UNITED STATES (e-mail at [email protected] or go to MysteryVisits.com). Many of the archive's original thumbnail scans were prepared by JOHAN KUNO of SWEDEN (e-mail at [email protected] or go to http://fly.to/kuno/). We also are grateful to Clarke Internet Fan Club administrator REINALDO AUGUSTO DA COSTA BIANCHI of BRAZIL (e-mail at [email protected]), who has provided scans from "Greetings, Carbon-Based Bipeds!" and several video sources, in addition to suggesting several improvements; to BRIAN THOMAS of the UNITED KINGDOM, Sir Arthur's technical advisor, for providing the scans of Sir Arthur's 1999 visit to the U.K. science sites; to DANIEL RICHTER (who portrayed "Moonwatcher" in the film of "2001: A Space Odyssey") of the UNITED STATES for allowing us to borrow images of him with Sir Arthur; to Sir Arthur's official biographer, NEIL McALEER, for the inclusion of several photos from May 2004; to Clarke fan MANUEL FERNANDEZ of VENEZUELA (e-mail at ) for relaying several images; to Underman's "2001" Tribute for some "2001"-related items; to fan SAM NAJI of the UNITED KINGDOM (e-mail at [email protected]) for contributing original photos of Sir Arthur's 1999 visit to a London screening of "2001"; KAVAN RATNATUNGA (e-mail at [email protected]) of the UNITED STATES for contributing an image of Sir Arthur's knighthood certificate; to fan JOHN R WHALE of WALES (e-mail at [email protected]); to fan ROLAND GAIDA of GERMANY (e-mail at [email protected]) for an image of a 1998 autographed photo; to fan and associate RICHARD MURCH of the UNITED STATES (e-mail at [email protected]) for the Clarke concert image and another candid shot; WAYNE HOUSER (email at [email protected]) of California in the UNITED STATES, for many recent images taken during his visits to Sir Arthur; travel journalist WARREN IRELAND of AUSTRALIA (e-mail at [email protected]) for relaying through Reinaldo scans of his visit to Sir Arthur in Sri Lanka; astrophysicist JOHN WEBB of AUSTRALIA (e-mail at [email protected]) for providing a photo of his father with Sir Arthur while they were compatriots in the RAF (and the thumbnail image, too!); FRED BECKER of the UNITED STATES (e-mail at [email protected] for many links relating to Clarke images from various WorldCon and MidwestCon events; JACK MORRIS (e-mail at [email protected]>) for an image he took of Arthur and Mike Wilson in the 1950s. We at MysteryVisits.com are deeply in their debt!

NEEDS:
We want more noncopyrighted images relating to Sir Arthur's life during the 1950s. Any and all relevant scans that you might provide will be sincerely appreciated, and will help to augment a resource of value to Sir Arthur's fans worldwide.
