Shelby County

Stop 1: Houston
The first city northbound OH 66 passes through in Shelby County is Houston. The name is pronounced "HOW-stun", just like the street in New York City. It is located in Loramie Township.

Stop 2: The Loramie/Cynthian Township Line
This is the typical street sign in rural Shelby County, where there are no county or township highway markers except in a handful of instances along CR 25A in the Anna and Botkins areas. This is also the northern end of OH 48.

Stop 3: Cynthian Township (south)
This is a blue sign directing travelers to the historic Inn at Versailles, nine miles west of OH 66 on OH 47.
This is the standard sign telling travelers what cities are on the road ahead (in this case, Sidney and Versailles on OH 47). This sign is just north of the Tourist Activities sign. At the northwest corner of the intersection is a Pennzoil station.

Stop 4: Newport
Newport is the second city OH 66 traverses. Located in Cynthian Township, it is just north of the OH 47 junction.

Stop 5: Cynthian Township (north)
Some roads in Shelby County have a big sign displaying their name. Even though this says "Cynthian Township" above "Cardo Road", my Shelby County map denotes this as CR 91. That little piece of white under the space between "R" and "D" in "Cardo" is a distant OH 66 sign.

Stop 6: Fort Loramie
This is the standard street sign in Fort Loramie.
This is the east side of Main Street/OH 66 in Fort Loramie. Right above the leftmost red car is an OH 362 sign.
This is Main Street on the other side.

ADDED BONUS: County Road 25A
This is approximately ten miles east of OH 66, but this county road is the only one in Shelby County I know of to have reassurance markers. This one is in Botkins near OH 274, just west of I-75 Exit 102. It is probably up as a reminder to motorists that it was once part of US 25.
