Pleural fluid, 64-year old male with a gastric signet ring adenocarcinoma


Pleural fluid, metastatic gastric signet ring carcinoma, 500x M-G-G staining,  many isolated large malignant cells.

Pleural fluid, metastatic gastric signet ring carcinoma, 1000x Papanicolaou staining, in detail a typical signet ring cell, with large mucin filled vacuole pushing the nucleus to the periphery of the cell.

Pleural fluid, metastatic gastric signet ring carcinoma, 500x M-G-G staining, isolated large malignant cells

Pleural fluid, metastatic gastric signet ring carcinoma, 1000x M-G-G staining, in detail a typical signet ring cell, with large vacuole pushing the nucleus to the periphery of the cell.

Pleural fluid, metastatic gastric signet ring carcinoma, 500x M-G-G staining, many isolated large malignant cells, some with signet ring morphology.



The patient had a known gastric tumor and developed pleural fluid, and the sediment had many signet ring malignant cells.
