Squamous cell carcinoma the presence of many malignant squamous cell is quite striking, and the obvious answer is the thyroid nodule is a squamous cell carcinoma, metastatic from the previous laryngeal tumor, since primary squamous cell of the thyroid is exceedingly rare. The presence of metastatic disease in the thyroid is somewhat more common than usually thought. Tumors from the larynx can invade the thyroid, as this case shows.
