Our nation has been rocked by the horrific attacks of September 11, 2001. We have watched our economy screech to a startling halt. We have seen our young, brave men and women sent overseas to fight a desparate battle on foreign shores. Though we have been stunned and knocked down and crippled, we have not been defeated. These heinous crimes against humanity have strengthened our resolve and united our country more than ever before. President George W. Bush made the statement in speech to Congress just days after the attacks. He said that, "the world has seen America's resolve...and it is strong!" America may be knocked down, but we will not be down for long.
Already, our economy has begun a progessive climb to stability. Nations from around the globe have publically stated their strong support of the United States and the War on Terrorism. There is a surge of patriotism across the nation that has not exsisted since the Second World War. Many people, after September 11th, said that "America will never be the same." This statement is true in two ways. America has never been more devestated, but America has never been stronger and more united.
Despite these feelings of patriotism and strength, I still feel a great sadness that cannot be shut out. I feel an anger against the men who conspired to execute this bold and evil atrocity... |
