Joshua Cohen
PADI Master Instructor and Managing PartnerThe purpose of this website is to showcase my uncle's PADI Dive Shop and to fulfill the requirements for SNHU IT-270's final project. In order to make sure that I accomplished my objectives, I used references from other dive shops to help build my pages and followed the SNHU rubric for the final project. I focused on the main aspects of diving which include gear, service, and training to make my website as close to what a real dive shop would have. I made sure to reference many HTML and CSS guides to make sure that I was appropriately using each piece of code as I went along. I would insert images and then adjust the size as I saw fit and felt made the website look better.
I chose to use the bubble background across all pages of my website as bubbles are a large part of scuba diving. The number one rule of scuba diving is always keep breathing, and many times that means just blowing bubbles. I decided to use a lot of blue as it is meant to symbolize the ocean. The other primary color I chose was red. Red is the main color of a dive flag and the color is able to stand out on the blue background. I chose fonts that I find are easy to read and make the reader feel excited. As a PADI instructor I am authorized to use any of the PADI marketing material that they provide such as logos and videos, and I was able to integrate these into my website to create a more realistic look. I chose the video I did for the homepage due to the fact that it describes exactly what happens when you become a scuba diver and it provides such great video clips to get viewers hooked.
I believe that if I had more time and resources I would have liked to take my course page, and make it multiple pages; one page for each course, where I could add pictures and videos from each individual course to provide more detail about each specific course. I would also have loved to use different fish images as navigation buttons rather than just a typical navigation bar. With more skill and time, I could certainly learn to make my website as dynamic as Rainbow Reef Dive Center's. Finally, I would like to add more pages that discuss dive travel, rental gear, and our dive club.
