Struggle in the street: Kowloon workers on strike

Laid-off workers of Kowloon House West Ave. branch have put up a picketline infront of the restaurant to protest against the mass lay-off and union busting. Since then, sales have gone down to 40 percent of the average daily sales.

The labor dispute exhibits the basic contradiction between workers and capitalists in a capitalist economy.

Tax burden in the semi-colony

Various sectors call for the scrapping of VAT on oil in the context of worsening economic standards. Recently, the Arroyo regime is pushing for two tax reform bills in Congress as a response to the global financial crisis - an expected move by a government that is subservient to the neoliberal policies of World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
