We want to thank all of you for your kind
words and support. As we previously mentioned, Jonathan has
now been home for five months. We’ve begun weaning him off
some sedating medications and he seems to be a little more
alert and is not having as many periods of agitation. At
times he shows a like or dislike for certain stimuli. For
instance, he enjoys certain textures like dry rice and beans
but does not like cotton balls. With the nice weather we’ve
been having, Jonathan has been enjoying just being outside
and riding in his stroller, so our family has enjoyed a few
hours in the backyard.
Despite the improvements mentioned above, Jonathan’s overall
condition remains unchanged. He’s still unable to move
voluntarily, walk, talk or communicate. He still relies on
his g-tube (tube surgically inserted in his stomach) for
food and medication.
We recently went to Canada to explore a new therapy, called
Advanced Bio-Mechanical Rehabilitation or ABR. It has shown
promising results for other brain injured children. Jonathan
will begin the therapy this week. If you’d like to learn
more about the program, the web site is www.blyum.com . The
cost of the program is $10,000 a year which is not covered
by insurance (big surprise!)
The Mom’s Club Lula belongs to just held a wonderful spa
benefit for Jonathan. The vice president Patti Dalessio
organized the event with the help of 17 volunteers. It was a
very successful event that was well attended and enjoyed by
all. Thank you to everyone who helped.
Our great neighbors have arranged a benefit for Jonathan. It
is a golf outing with dinner dance and silent auction to be
held on September 28, 2007 at the Bucks County Country Club,
in Jamison, PA. There are sponsorships available. Please
contact Suzanne Panettieri at [email protected] and
provide your name and address to receive your personal
invitation.
As always we thank you for your continued support.
