James
Henry Tindall, the son of Mary and James Henry Tindall, was born in South Carolina
in 1806. James married Sarah Allen,
the daughter of Sarah Brown and Ezra
Allen. Sarah Allen was born in
South Carolina in 1816. She was a
life time member of Calvary Baptist
Church and a co-founder of the Summerton
Baptist Church.
According
to the 1840 census, James lived in Sumter
District, South Carolina. He was
born between 1800 and 1810. Also in
the dwelling were one female born between
1810 and 1820 and two females born
between 1835 and 1840. The census
lists fourteen slaves. Among the
neighbors were Charles R. Harvin (born
between 1810 and 1820), A. J.
Tindall (born between 1810 and 1820), and
Sam Tindall (born between 1820 and 1825).
According
to the 1850 census of Sumter District,
South Carolina, James was a 44 year old
planter. His real estate was valued
at $1,800.00. Others in the
household were Sarah (age 32), Mary (age
12), Henry (age 9), Margaret (age 7), and
James (age 2).
According
to the 1860 census, James was a 54 year
old farmer living in Wrights Bluff,
Clarendon District, South Carolina.
His real estate was valued at $16,310.00
and his personal property was valued at $37,862.00.
Others in the family were Sarah (age 42),
Henry (age 18), James (age 12), Alice (age
8), Ezra (age 5) and B. S. (a 5 year old
female). All were born in South
Carolina.
James
died between June 19, 1860 and December
18, 1861, and Sarah died in 1905.
Sarah was buried in the Baptist Cemetery
in Summerton, South Carolina.

Mary Ella Tindall was born on September
15, 1837, and died on March 13, 1889.
On November 26, 1856, Mary married Dr.
Edward Thomas Rembert (1817-1884).

Henry Tindall was born in South Carolina
in 1841.

Margaret Tindall was born about 1842.
4.
James Tindall was born in South Carolina
about 1848.
5.
Alice Tindall was born in South Carolina
about 1852.
6.
Ezra A. Tindall was born in South
Carolina in 1855 and died in 1894.
He married Eliza C. ( - 1911).
They are buried in the Summerton Baptist
Cemetery.
7.
B. S. Tindall was born in South Carolina
about 1855.
